Private Communications Coaching
8-Week Individualized Program | Grades 5–12
Helping students organize what they want to say, express their ideas more completely, and communicate with greater confidence.
Some students have plenty to say but struggle to express those thoughts clearly.
They may give very short answers, have difficulty explaining what they mean, need frequent prompting to elaborate, become uncomfortable speaking with others, or struggle to advocate for themselves when they need something.
Private Communication Coaching helps students develop the skills and strategies to communicate their thoughts more clearly, completely, and confidently.
Rather than following a one-size-fits-all curriculum, each student's coaching is built around their individual communication needs and goals.
What We Work On
Depending on your student's individual needs, coaching may focus on:
- Organizing thoughts before speaking
- Developing and elaborating on ideas
- Expressing complete thoughts
- Explaining ideas, opinions, and reasoning
- Responding to questions with more than minimal answers
- Maintaining and developing conversations
- Communicating with adults and unfamiliar people
- Speaking up and advocating for themselves
- Building confidence expressing ideas
- Presentation and public-speaking skills
- Interview communication
- Applying communication strategies in real-world situations
The goal isn't to teach students to speak a certain way or simply make them “talk more.”
The goal is to give them strategies for figuring out what they want to communicate, organizing those thoughts, and expressing them in a way another person can understand.
Meet Your Coach
Hi, I’m Jahci Joy!
I’m a Writing & Communications Coach, educator, and curriculum developer with experience teaching and supporting students across multiple grade levels and learning environments.
My approach goes beyond correcting grammar or telling students to “add more detail.” I help students understand how to organize their thinking, develop their ideas, and communicate what they mean in a way others can understand.
Through individualized instruction, I help students strengthen the writing and communication skills they can carry into the classroom, presentations, conversations, and eventually college and their careers.
My goal is simple: help students become clearer thinkers, stronger writers, and more confident communicators.
How the Program Works
-
1. Assess
We begin with an individualized communication assessment to establish your student's current strengths, challenges, and communication habits
-
2. Identify
I identify the skills creating the greatest barriers to clear, confident communication and develop an individualized skill plan.
-
3. Teach
Your student receives direct instruction in specific communication strategies based on their needs.
-
4. Practice
We practice those skills through guided conversations, scenarios, responses, presentations, and other communication activities with direct 1:1 feedback.
-
5. Apply
Your student practices applying their skills more independently in situations that reflect communication at school, at home, and in everyday life.
-
6. Reassess
At the end of the program, we evaluate progress and identify next steps for continued development.
